Colposcopy is a procedure that helps in examining the vulva, vagina and cervix. With the help of a colposope the doctor examines this region to detect any medical condition or abnormalities. In some cases, samples may be taken for further investigation. Through this procedure, the examiner will be able to distinguish between abnormal and normal appearance of tissues. The main objective of this procedure is to prevent / rule out / treat precancerous lesions or cervical cancer or any other problem that can be related to any/all of these regions.
