Heart Valve Replacement
When the mitral and aortic heart valves fail to open and close properly, the heart’s ability to pump blood adequately through the body is hampered. Due to this, it can lead to a variety of complications, including heart failure. There are two main conditions that affect the Aortic and Mitral heart valve, they are
- Leakage of the valve AKA Regurgitation: In this condition, there is no full closure of the valve due to which the blood flows in the opposite (backward direction). This in-turn causes to heart to work harder while pumping.
- Narrowing of the valve AKA Stenosis: People who are diagnosed with Stenosis have a narrow valve. This limits the flow of blood from the heart’s chambers. This increases the pressure on the heart while pumping blood as it requires an increased force to flow through the stiff or narrowed valve.
